WYW Girls on TV - Twice in November 2009!
An Invitation to the BBC 'Children in Need' broadcast at Eureka on 20.11.2009 how exciting!
I had been invited to join six Holy Trinity Brownies and their leaders - the girls were bubbling with excitment and proud of their achievement at having raised money to present on a "Big Cheque".
The television crew was there and even before we got into the building the Brownies were on BBC 'Look North' waving at Pudsey Bear. The crowd was loud and cheerful! Once we were inside Eureka! we were lucky enough to be filmed presenting our cheque.
Courtney told the presenter Ian White:-
'Brown Owl gave us a smartie tube, we took it home and could eat the smarties, then we did jobs and put the money we got in the tube. We've raised £162.00.'
I was so proud that our Brownies were in the front row and had done so well in their interview. We all rushed home to watch the transmission at l0.30pm and there we all were cheering, smiling and waving - fame at last!
One week later on Sunday 29th November we had the opportunity to have West Yorkshire West on the television again with our 'Take Over the Tracks' Centenary Adventure at Keighley & Haworth Railway on the Santa Special - this time with Yorkshire Television. Our Brownies and Rainbows had such fun, and again our Brownies were interviewed
and did us all proud.
The interview I did in case Liz Burnley, Chief Guide Girlguiding UK, was late was fun but I'm
glad that she did make it on time and did "her bit" for the cameras. We were shown at the end of the tea-time Calendar transmission.
Well done West Yorkshire West you have certainly put us on the map!
Angela
County Commissioner
