Heptonstall Brownies become Circus Performers

On a very wet and windy Saturday in November 24 Brownies and their Leaders, Young Leader and parent helpers set out from Hebden Bridge train station.

Our train was delayed and when it finally came we were all very cold but glad to be safely on board. Until shock horror, the train didn’t stop at Halifax!

We ended up having to go to Brighouse and back again!!

It made us late for our starting time at Eureka! the Childrens Museum, but it made no difference the staff at Eureka! were great. They looked after us all so well changing the schedules so that the girls missed nothing in the end and we had a good laugh about it later!

The Circus Performers Badge is a great one to do but you really do need a circus performer to teach and inspire you all and Eureka! had a fantastic man called John who entertained us all throughout the day.

By the end of the session the girls were juggling, working with Diablos and plate spinning.

They were stilt walking and even attempting the unicycle (which included practicing on the green pedalling machine).

We had time to do crafts with the staff from Eureka! and the Brownies made juggling balls and masks.

In the afternoon we had time to explore part of Eureka! following a trail set by the staff team.

We had a wonderful day that ended with a show and the Circus Performer badge presentation ceremony.

We very carefully caught the correct train back to Hebden Bridge and I had many reports from parents that the girls had had a brilliant time!
