Kingston Rainbows ... discover ubuntu with Book Aid International |
.
We chose this project because we all love books and understand how important they are to learn new things. The Rainbows found it difficult at first to imagine their home and school without any books but could understand how difficult it would be if they had to share books between 5 friends.
We learnt how important the work of Book Aid International is in helping to send books to Africa.
.
Our six Rainbows learnt about Africa - where it is in the world and how big it is. We made a collage of African pictures and also made African Tribal masks. |
.
We had an open evening where we had a book tent
– which we made from old material and made it comfy with rugs and cushions, we then read some favourite books.

We had a display showing Kingston Rainbows through the ages with scrap books, photos and a computer display of pictures.
The Rainbows also made Maasi bracelets out of multi-coloured beads.
Over the weeks we were learning about Book Aid International our subs were donated and we also held a book sale at our open evening.
We raised a total of £30 for Book Aid International.

Who we are. We help bring free books to people living in some of the poorest places in the world. We need your help … because everyone, everywhere, has the right to improve their lives by learning how to read & educate themselves. So help us … send more books. |
Ubuntu - is an ancient African term which describes a way of seeing the world and behaving. A person with ubuntu knows that helping other people and caring for the world will make it a better place for us all.
