 Book Aid International

Can you imagine not having any books?

Across sub-Saharan Africa books are in incredibly short supply

- a book can cost a month's wages and

most people don't have a book to call their own.

Book Aid International works to provide over half a million new books to the region each year to support education, training and literacy.

They send books on all kind of subjects from children's picture books and text books to books on farming and basic healthcare.

The books go to schools, community libraries and refugee camps

- anywhere that they can be read and enjoyed.

Book Aid International is hoping that Girlguiding UK members will raise

£20,000 which will pay for the shipping of 16,000 new books

to African children and communities that need them the most.

The Halifax South Trefoil Guild held a literary quiz and donated their monthly subscription to support this project.

We donated £22 to Book Aid International.

Who we are.

We help bring free books to people living in some of the poorest places in the world.

We need your helpbecause everyone, everywhere, has the right to improve their lives by learning how to read & educate themselves.

So help us send more books.

Ubuntu - is an ancient African term which describes a way of seeing the world and behaving. A person with ubuntu knows that helping other people and caring for the world will make it a better place for us all.
