7th Todmorden Rainbows ... support Help the Hospices |
After choosing the help the Help the Hospices project the girls learned what a hospice is and that locally there was one for adults but none for children.
When they learned that the West Yorkshire Forget-me-Not Trust were raising money for a children’s hospice they wanted to raise money for them.
They made and decorated small boxes which they took home
and filled with loose change.
We then had a ‘Forget-me-Not’ evening on the Wednesday
before Mothering Sunday.
The girls were set the task of making Forget-me-Not flowers from paper and pipe cleaners and they hooked them together and made the chains. |
They were sponsored by parents, relatives and friends for each flower made.
At the end of the evening they undid their chains and tied their flowers together with a yellow ribbon and presented them to their Mums for Mothering Sunday. |
The girls were very enthusiastic and parents also got involved.
The girl with the longest chain had had her Dad helping her so it was a
special treat for her Mum to receive the flowers on Mothering Sunday.
The money we raised was later presented to Mrs Shirley Fielder a representative for the Forget-me-Not Trust |
