4th Rastrick Rainbows  

  ... supported NDCS - Hands Up !

For our second Changing the World activity we decided to support the work of NDCS (National Deaf Children's Society).

We read Michaela’s story (from the pack) and played simple lip-reading games.

Rainbows made collages of their hands  -  this was incorporated into a wall display for our unit meeting place

We also made “Change Choobes”  (kitchen roll tubes, sealed and decorated, for Rainbows to collect coins in)  -  and we took part in the Coin Art activity  -  this was a great night!  The Rainbows really enjoyed the Coin Art and their parents were very impressed.

One Dad thanked us very much for taking part  -   his wife works with deaf children and he was delighted that we had raised awareness and also raised funds.

We have been learning to sign the Rainbow Promise  -  it’s very hard for Rainbows [it’s hard for the leaders too!) but we practice every week  -  it’s also a great way for new Rainbows to learn the promise!

We also held a Body Shop party and coffee evening.

We raised £45 for NDCS.
