 46th Hx Highroad Well Brownies ... sing for change with WaterAid |
After much discussion our Brownie unit decided to raise money for WaterAid.
We tried some of the activities suggested in the special 'Sing for Change' resource pack and learnt about what it would be like not to have water in our own homes just when we want it!
The Brownies were quite surprised to learn that many girls their age do not go to school because they have to collect water for their families.
All the Brownies learnt the songs from the ‘Sing for Change’ pack and performed them for Parents, Guides, Brownies and Church Members who had come along to our District Christingle Service in December 2008. The songs were very easy to learn and fun to sing. After the concert some of the Guides were very interested in finding out where we had got the songs from and asked if they could have a copy of them! – they must be good!!!
We can strongly recommend the ‘Sing for Change’ activity pack.
Each Brownie received a Changing the World badge and also a special certificate for taking part in the challenge.
We combined the evening with some Brownies taking their Hostess Badge - serving refreshments after our concert!
We also collected loose change in empty water bottles over several weeks at home.
We raised £64 for WaterAid.
