1st Bradshaw (St John's)Guides ... We like flowers!

9th March 2010

The girls decided to make Mother's Day cards and flowers.

Each girl was given a supply of craft materials - some of the older Guides

made pop-up cards whilst the remainder made decoupage ones.

Some of the designs were more elaborate than others and

a few girls had to make their own envelopes

(as they'd made the designs too big to fit into a standard envelope!).

After the card making session we moved onto flower making.

Each girl was given a pipe cleaner, ribbon, decorations and tissue paper.

It took a while to figure out exactly how to make the perfect flower head,

but eventually we made it.

The girls made single coloured flowers and then

went on to make mixed coloured ones.

The Mums and Grandmas were delighted with them, more so because

they didn't need watering and looking after!

13th April 2010

The girls were split into two groups as we were making buns and

decorating them with floral designs.

To say they made a mess with the cake mixture is an inderstatement!!

Though they did have great fun whilst making them!

They made up different coloured batches of icing mixture and

used these as the base coat for their design.

Silver balls, jelly pieces, icing pens etc. were used to make flower shapes.

The designs were fantastic!

When they were all placed together on a tray,

they looked like a vase of flowers.

They were supposed to take six buns home with them to give to family and friends - but quite a few were eaten before they took them home!!
