County President
Hello My name is Sylvia Lofthouse and I am County President of West Yorkshire West.
|
I began my journey into Girlguiding in 1977 when as the mother of a Scout, Guide, Cub and a Brownie I was invited to be District Commissioner of Todmorden in the Calder Valley.
Having had no previous experience of Guiding I felt I had to learn very quickly but always aimed to be a link between the Division team and Guiders in the District - and a sympathetic ear for any problems.
After 5 years I took on the role of Division Commissioner for the Calder Valley.
Following this in 1988 I helped in the setting up of a Trefoil Guild in Todmorden as the secretary.
In October 1994 I was invited to be County President and feel privileged to represent our County.
I have enjoyed every minute of this role.
