Calder Valley Division
Hello My name is Jennifer Jackson and I am the Division Commissioner for Calder Valley |
Calder Valley Division is a semi rural Division. It is in the west of the county.
We have two fairly large Districts. Hebden Royd covers Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd and the hilltop communities of Heptonstall and Old Town. Todmorden includes Walsden and also covers the Cornholme area.
We have units for Rainbows, Brownies and Guides in both Districts and Hebden Royd has a Senior Section Unit. Both Districts have active Trefoil Guilds.
Our units offer a diverse and vibrant range of activities. Here are some of them.
We have a particularly strong programme of both camping and indoor residential events. Guides and Brownies camp annually. The Guides have taken part in large international activity camps and we have had Rainbows enjoying overnight events.
Units are involved in the local community. Guiding is represented at the local galas and carnivals and girls take part in community service projects.
The highly acclaimed Todmorden Gang Show is held every May, and it presented its 50th Show in 2008. Brownies, Guides, Senior Section and Leaders provide many cast members, and Rainbows are in the Gang Show Juniors. Leaders help in production, wardrobe and other areas.
Amongst our leaders we have
hill walkers, community volunteers
arts and crafts experts, flower arrangers
music lovers, booklovers
science lovers, gardeners
a radio amateur, dancers
sudoku addicts, campers
photographers, computer experts
AND MUCH MORE!!!!!!!!!
